Kathak
Kathak, one of the eight classical dance forms of India, originates from the northern region. The term "Kathak" is derived from the Sanskrit word "Katha" (story), and the dance form reflects its storytelling roots. Initially performed by traveling bards called Kathakars in temples to narrate mythological tales, Kathak evolved into a sophisticated court dance during the Mughal era, incorporating Persian and Islamic cultural elements.
